Samsung Galaxy A3 Review

Screen & Body

samsung galaxy a3 2017The A3 is a sleek and compact mobile device that gives you a perfect one hand operation experience. The 4.7inch 720p, Super AMOLED display will give you a perfectly sharp picture and great quality that you wont find in other phones with a similar price tag.

The curved-edge glass front and metal body feels durable and sturdy in your hand. The chamfered edges also give the phone a comfortable feel in your palm. The Corning Gorilla Glass 4 can take a few drops but you will have to buy a phone case to protect your device.

Another important note is that your camera wont get damaged when you rest your phone on a desk as the slight camera bulge has been removed.

Samsung also gave the phone a 312 ppi screen with a 67.9% screen-to-body ratio plus their amazing always on technology.

Hardware & Performance

samsung galaxy a3 2017 viewsLet’s pop the hood and see what makes the A3 2017 tick:

An Octa-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU backed by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage will have you flying even after getting the Android 7 Nougat upgrade. If the 16GB storage is not enough, there is a hot-plug microSD card slot that takes up to 256GB of add-on storage.

The 13MP camera with 1080p video recording is great for selfies and an okay substitute for packing a tiny digital camera if you are one to snap a lot of family pictures for Instagram sharing and Facebook. The 8MP front camera is great for video calling or taking selfies when you don’t have a camera-person to help you out.

The battery is a tad small at 2,350mAh and just 17 hours of talk time means you’ll have to stay close to a charger or carry an external power-pack with you. If you are a moderate user, you should be able to make it through the day, but no one is spending $300 on an Android device so they can keep it stashed in their purse.

The Galaxy A3 2017 has additional USB type C reversible connector, a Fingerprint scanner and the usual features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

This phone should be in your palm right now. Buy it and pretend you own a Galaxy S8, we’ll forgive you for it.

The light sensors flip out now and then especially if you are using a phone cover and put the phone in your pocket.
